Mr. Murphy has almost 30 years experience in the Commercial Finance Industry. Mr. Murphy started his career in 1980 with National Acceptance Company of California, where he was in charge of the chattel mortgage department. In 1984 he joined Commonwealth Financial as a Business Development Officer. Commonwealth later became known as Fremont Financial Corporation where he was until 1990.
 
In 1990, Mr. Murphy joined Sterling Business Credit as Vice President, where he was in charge of their marketing department. In 1995, Preferred Business Credit was formed out of the old Sterling Business Credit.
